adding drums to my recordings

i use to record guitar stuff with cool edit, works nice, but everything is guitar only.
once i played over a midi background which had drums and choir, but of course i couldnt mix the midi with the guitar wav using cool edit(no way, no?)
i was wondering if you guys know of any software so i could write or program drums and then add to my cool edit guitar tracks to make more complete mixes (kind of looking for my invisible drummer)

If you've got some cash to burn, GuitarPort (http://www.guitarport.com/overview.html) has a pretty nice drum machine. Nothing I'd use to replace a human dummer, but nice for making your own recordings sound better.
