New "Ask the Luthier" forum added. This is a little different from all of the other forums here at GuitarLodge.com. This is not a general discussion forum, but one where you are directing your questions to a professional luither. Jeff (Guitar-Zan) from Black Forest Guitars (http://blackforestguitars.com/) has offered to answer questions on guitar building, repairs, setups, etc. Only Jeff will be replying to your questions, so if you are looking for multiple opinions on a subject, post in the other forums. Some questions posted in there may be moved to other forums if they would be better answered in the normal forum format.

Actually, I like this idea. Probably won't get as much traffic as the other forums but it ought to be very helpful.

Kind of reminds me of the "Lessons by Marz" forum over at RatBit.

NO!!!!!!! Socialist Dictator Shawn has spoken!!!!!!!!!

I mean...

Uh...

I agree in a way, but if Zanman (ranafanbomadanacktalantababantadbitanAN) answers it, they shouldn't have any problems, I guess... Just don't add stuff like I agree, or yeah, that worked for me.

Also...

Um, considering nobody p!sses Shawn off before this gets off the ground, I just thought I'd say I think this is an excellent idea and will be a welcome addition for a lot of us here. Thanks, Shawn.

I kind of like the idea of a Q&A forum with one expert. That's how it's done in many other places. If people want an open discussion, there's always that "New Thread" button we all have. Nobody's being forced to submit all their questions to that one particular section.

Well, like Shawn said, this forum would be used specifically for topics related to luthering, so it's a smaller number of questions and will be answered only by our local luthier, so we know it's going to be good. One could post questions on other gear topics in the "Gear" forum, or if it's posted here, it can easily be moved.

Like I mentioned before, over at RatBit, we have Questions and Lessons by Marz, a former cyberfret member, and it's worked very well. So as long an Jeff is here, we should get some good information.

shawn always struck me as the type a guy that doesnt get upset over the little things....

well maybe we could but a msg on those type threads when you make them saying that on one user will be able to answer them, and that its ok to post it in a nother forum

that might clear up some questions for the new guys

I didn't mean that he'd be more inclined to get upset about this than the average person; it was more of a "Why is it every time somebody does something nice, the whiners come out of the woodwork?" type of thing.

Blah, forget it.

Maybe someone would be kind enough to tell a Norwegian guy what a luthier is?
