looking for advice on basses

I just played a ESP C-305 ltd. 5 sting bass.... I LOVED it... does anyone know if there are any known problems with it. I am going to be heading back to the store soon to buy a bass and this might the one. any other suggestions of basses to look at in the same price range ($700 US) to look at. I am a guitarist, now getting serious about playing bass as well. also any suggestions on amps... I am pretty ignorant about them and don't have time to check out dozens to find what I want.

hmm ive always liked Trace Elliot amps myself, but they're not overly cheap.


My band currently use a 122h Combo 300w 12-band Trace Elliot bass amp, and we love it.

as for basses around $700... thats around £450ish i think

I would personally go with something from the top end of the DeArmond Pilot series, love DeArmond basses.

Or of course the ever-present Fender Jazz bass, a friend of mine in a local punk rock band just got one in a strange translucent blue, and its one of the best basses ive ever played.
