I've got this burning question, I've been trying to find answers for the last few weeks.

There's this song I like, I won't go deep into it. The point is, it uses the chords G5, G#5, and A5 in part of the chorus. Now what key is that? I'm trying to get into writing some of my own material and like to try to pick songs apart to see what the artist was trying to do. But as far as my theory knowledge goes, those 3 chords don't go in the same key right?

The song is Incubus - Just a Phase. Simple song, not hard to play, but I don't understand his chord choice...... any help would be great.... thanks.....

The G#5 is probably just a passing chord between the G5 and the A5. So it is not in the key, it is just used as a transition between chord that are.

I know that song. It switches between key's E and C major. The part you want to know about is in C.
