palm muting

the only way i know how to palm mute seems to completely mute the string....but for the tab "aint talkin bout love" by van halen, he palm mutes and gets sound, anyone know how he palm mutes like that or how to do it?

also, ive read over the palm muting section here but i cant seem to find that spot to where it is muffled but still can be heard...by the bridge..

If you have read the lesson, then there is not really any addition info that I could give you on palm muting. You will just have to experiment with your right hand position. You just need to touch the strings very lightly back near the bridge with the pinky side of your right hand.

you use the "meaty" part of your hand (the side of your palm, just below the pinky). place your hand just on the edge of the bridge where the strings are fastened to. then bend your wrist up to pick the strings.
