i cant get pick scrape

i've been trying for a long time to get a pick scrape and i never have been able to get it. should i slide the pick down or up, slow or fast? push down hard or lightly? i dont know how. should i angle the pick any direction?

put your pick perpendicular to the strings, scrape on the low E and A strings, and use distortion! It'll definitely make it sound fatter. As for going fast or slow: a fast scrape will be high piched and heard less easily. A slow one is the kind most people use, since it isn't ear-piercing and sounds better most of the time.

It could be that you've got shoddy pick-ups. My first guitar was a Squire Strat that had the worst pick-ups know to man. I couldn't scrape with them.

i got a squire tele that i cant do crap with. dont got money for any thing else. might ask for an ibanez for christmas this year.
