View Full Version : The Halo Theme
NO!!!! It's not totally recorded yet(Tommorow would be the earliest possible), I just wanted to know if anyone had any advice for learning the violin solo.

Hmm, no real advice for the violin solo, id offer to record it for you if i actually had a decent mic to record my violin on :P
Pretty sweet though. Im looking forward to hearing the full version.
That'd be awesome, I'm just going to do it on guitar.

Out of curiosity, is that a chorus pedal you're using in the beginning? What make?
Sounds awesome, btw.
It's a Phaser, but I messed with the EQ to alter the sound. (Dropped the treble and upped the Bass or some such.)
It's one of the on board effects on my amp modeler.

Sweet man, good tones from that tonelab. I'll have to play the game some to remember what the violin solo sounds like, but I don't think its too hard. Just gotta get a decent violin sounding tone to make it sound right. Now you have to learn some of the Steve Vai shredding that you hear every once in a while in the soundtrack. :p
I thought that was only the second game? (Not sure though, I don't have an XBox)
EDIT... I guess I could add some random shred...

The intro part could be more "legattoed", that is, with more hammer-ons/ pull-offs. The rest sounds great though! Nice tone! Thanks for that!

Haven't listened to your shred one yet, but yeah, its just the second one with Vai. But there are some cool random rhythm guitar parts in the first Halo soundtrack. Its mostly orchestral music, though. Halo 2 has way more guitar parts throughout the whole game. OK I'm gonna check out the shred one now. :)

OK, thats awesome. Ii sounds pretty similar to some of the Vai stuff in Halo 2, which is cool, considering it doesn't appear that you've heard much of it. What key/mode/whatever, did you play it in? I guess I could play along and figure out, but my guitar is not near me.

Thanks you guys, the entire Halo theme is a very creatively used E dorian.
As for the begginning part, I'll see what I can do, In all honesty, I had just learned it moments before in order to segue to the heavy distortion part. I wasn't really thinking too much about phrasing, more about not forgetting it. (I don't have the game, so It's hard to remember because I don't have the melody stored in my brain.) Once I get the Melody down, I'll replay it I guess. (Grrr... What a pain for some legato.) :D

Very cool! What pedal do you have? I think a few of your palm mutes were off in the begining powerchord progression. Awesome!
