best all round pickups

Hi - my bassist wants to know what bass pickups would be more than capable of playing metal, but to sound nice when playing funk and jazz too, any recommendations?

Bartolini (spelling) in my opinion makes the best pickups for bass....every bass player that I've ever played with swears by them.

EMGs pickups are very nice. Punchy for funk and deep for metal. Add a 3 band EQ to the bass and there ya go!
