Helppppppppp! How do i play double pullofs fast?
Ok..To the actual question
if u have 8p7p5..How would play it?Use ur pinky or use ur first three fingers, stretch and play it?
I keep practising them everyday..but i have immense trouble switching to a new position while playing and executing these double pulloffs
Thanks in advance

I would use the pinky on the 8th fret, 3rd finger on the 7th fret and 1st finger on the 5th fret.
Pull offs involving the pinky (espesially this one) are hard to perfect, try just playing this pull of over and over again without switching position after, erm let me make that a bit clearer:
e:------------------------------------------------------
B:-------------------------------------------------------
G:---8p7p5--8p7p5--8p7p--8p7p5 over and over -----------
D:------------------------------------------------------
A:------------------------------------------------------
E:---------------------------------------------------------
Try playing it on all the strings, higher up the fretboard will be easier (less of a stretch). Try doing trills ie, 5h7h8p7p5 over and over. This may make you tense up, if you feel it, take a break and stretch out, then start again.
I hope this helps.

i would deffinately suggest trying it higher up on the fretboard...around or past the 12th fret...much less stretch and it will help you get the technique down.

Follow The Fury's fingering and do finger streching exercises... go here

Trust me, doing these exercises will improve the flexbility of your fingers... :)

Hi all
Thanks for the great replies
Now doin these double pulloffs on the 3rd string..WHat would be your thumb position
There's one song played at 220 bpm(It's CHild in time)...Blackmore keeps bending the string..Drops down the bend and does this pulloff
He does it so fast i doubt he can switch thumb position..So how will u play this
e---
b---
g---7(9)7(9)7(8)7(8)7(9)-10p8p7
He does the bend a no of times...Just an indication

Bends are usually played with the thumb over the top of the neck.
I would bend the 7 with my second finger supported by my first. It might be a slide down from 8 to 7, this would make it a lot easier ie, 10 p 8 s 7 using your 3rd finger on the 10th fet and your 1st finger on the 8 and 7.
I don't know the song so it's hard to tell.
Edit- I've just been to try it, obviously I have no clue as to what's it's supposed to sound like, but you could try bending the note with your first finger and doing the pull off from 10 to 8 with your 4th finger to your 2nd finger and playing the 7 with your first.

make sure your thumb is at the back of the neck, and not over the top.

Well Black Star just proved that everyone will have their own way of playing the same thing. Just try lots of different fingerings and hand positions to find the best way for you.

your right flury, nothin wrong with that, it's just that you will have a better stretch if you keep your thumb behind the neck

Iommi, yes I can easily bend with my first finger, I sometimes bend with the pinky but it's not called for that often. I always support a bend with at least one finger, maybe two (except obviously bending with the first)
As for the hand position, you did ask how I would play it. Also, like I said, bends are far easier with the thumb over the top of the neck. I agree it might be less of a strech (for some) when the thumb is behind the neck, but personally I didn't find it a stretch.
You say it was so fast he coulndn't posibly switch hand position, I wouldn't be so sure, after all it's Ritchie Blackmore we're talking about. If I remember rightly, he was quite good :)

@ fury
He sure is good..I tried to get a video of his playing Child in time..But unfortunately Blackmore hardly ever plays the same solo twice..SO there's no point really..Yeah ..I do the pulloff with my thumb up...It's much less work that way.The song is palyed at 220 bpm by the way ..
Thanks for all the replies mates
