Hey well me and Omish here decided to do some rerecording with a mic instead of line out, and even this awful mic sounds SOOOO much better. Plus new solos, harmonized solos, massive tapping and some shredalicious moments, make for some great stuff.

Only Untitled but good and Untitled number 2 have been rerecorded so far, the other ones still kinda suck, but check em out anyways.

Tone thanks to my new 79 series dean v and Omnislash42's MTS :D (and a karaoke machine mic  )

Those sound pretty damn good man, the grooves are really great. A little post recording EQing and mixing would make it even better, as it is now the lead guitar sounds a little thin in comparison to the groove, but a little EQing should fix that.

The solos on the second one(Slight Return) seemed to fit slightly better to my ear, but what do I know. Great playing though, your easily 20X better than me :p

Yeah, I basically agree with all that. There is no post-mixing/eqing because we don't know how/don't have the program to do that, but that will probably come next as we get a little better at this recording stuff. Its one thing to get a decent tone, and another to get that tone down on a recording! (oh, and the drums are a badly made clip that is only there to keep time. They don't sound too bad to me, but my drummer friend was in pain when he heard them :p )

i hope you take this as a constructive comment (thats my intention)...

the songs could use some more elaboration, a nicer structure, some modulation could be nice, more variation to keep the listeners attention.
the tapping section in the first track (i think that one) seems out of nowhere and w/o purporse, was a nice idea but maybe u could enhace it by setting a more attractive environment. again, polish songwritting a bit more (you wont regret it).
i dont mean you gotta play prog rock, dont get me wrong. im tryin to say that if u spend some more time in songwritting you could play the same thing but much richer.

also, polish technique for all fast parts, make em sound as close to perfect as possible (imo, faster would also be nicer).
in fact, there are many 'ouch' notes, i recommend to polish technique some more. you see, 'ouch' notes ruin your whole performance greatly (even if it was a great composition).

personally, i think the best about recording stuff of your own is to review it without mercy, that encourages to practise more and get better.
very often, i hate my own stuff...anger makes me work =)

hope that helps.

Sure their are technical things that can be worked out. What is good about this medium (the internet) is that musicians can post their "raw" and unpolished stuff. This allows you to see the true artistry (which isn't present in a lot of commercial music these days due to having to fit a formula sound). I think the tracks are great.

i listened to the first track and it was pretty cool. the tapping got a little sloppy, but like Treyjo said, some of it can be fixed with Eq. keep workin on it. sounds good. if you dont mind me asking, how old are you guys?

Can't really comment on your playing, but i can easily say you're alot better than me and by alot I mean ALOT. You say you recorded with a cheap mic? That's pretty surprising, I think the recording's pretty darn good.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I've been in France for the last week and a half, so I haven't been on the forums in a while. Yeah, that random tapping part is kind of weird. When we practice it live, its a lot different, theres no drums, and the transition is way better. We just had trouble with the recording program (drum loop tempos, etc.) so we had to record it the way we did. But thanks a lot, the songs have improved since we first recorded them (the originals would probably make you laugh/cry/both). Geez, I haven't played guitar in like 9 days! I've missed my guitar badly, time to practice!
