Ok, I've always wanted to record using my amp's tone. I want to know what I need to buy to do this. My amp has a line out jack on it. I think I need an adaptor and some sort of recording software. OR do I need a mic? I will be doing this directly through a laptop.

Well the line out will work but micing it will sound better. Buy a decent condenser mic.

How much do those cost? Also, what would I need to hook the mic up to my computer?

I hear alot of people use the SM 57 mic made by shure http://www.shure.com/otws/tech/sm57.asp
and just put the mic up to the amp but plug the mic in your computer first.
Then possibly, get a recording software. The one I use is Audacity, I love it. Then I use cool edit pro for all my mixing and stuff.

Ok, that is a lot cheaper than I thought it would be. Also, does Audacity work on Windows 98 and Windows xp? Thanks!
