You know how there is an intro, a chorus, a pre chorus, ect... What are all the parts of a song, and whats their role.

The way I see a song written is that the intro is to build the expectation of the song, the pre chorus is to open up for the chorus, the chorus is the root of the song, generally what the song is about, the verses are a passage which leads the listener into a story about the chorus, outtro raps the song up.

An intro is usually 1 or 2 measure right?
Im still unclear about verse, pre chorus, and chorus and who you can tell them appart....Im not asking lyric wise, im asking for the instrumentals

As they said, there are no rules, but a common setup can be seen in U2's "Beautiful Day":
Intro
First Verse (The heart is a bloom...)
Chorus (It's a beautiful day...)
Second verse (You're on the road....)
Chorus
Bridge (Touch me....)
Solo/interlude/instrumental
Middle Eight (See the world in green and blue....)
Breakdown
Chorus
Bridge
Chorus 2 (What you don't have....)
Chorus
