I play some bluegrass... just for fun, not with a band. I'm not a very good bluegrass picker, but, I can hold my own.

just wondering what bluegrss songs u play cause i just started playing bluegress about a year ago


these are the songs i play: Salt Creek, Blue Midnight Star, c/ to Shady Grove, Black Mountain Rag and c/ to Bluegrass Stomp

I play "Maple leaf rag", "Six day on the road", "Chubby thighs", "Dallas rag", "Get up and go", "Kaatskill serenade" a coupla others. Like i said I'm not a blue grass player, but, I can butcher these pretty well.

you learn bluegrass the same way you learn any other style. find one song, and listen to it closely then try to emulate it. not alot writen down on it, that I have found. mostly right hand playin' (if your a righty)

Whats an easy bluegrass song to learn how to play?
i heard John5 play a bluegrass song, it sounded quite frantic to say the least!

yes, kashmo, that's the song they play, if you are talking of bluesbrothers2000, not the original one. I think in the original one with Belushi and Akroyd, they don't play any bluegrass at all, but I might be wrong because the last time I saw the movie's a couple of years ago...

the song u thinking of for the blusbrother is "peter gun" and it is not bluegrass

why is it not bluegrass? they come to the show, and they... oh this looks like a bluegrass show, and not like a blues show. And their name is also bluegrass brothers when they play that song.

he referred to the original bluesbrothers movie, where they do not play any bluegrass..

but in bluesbrothers2000 (which you are referring to) they play "Ghostriders in the sky" when they are at the "bluegrass" festival, as the "bluegrass" brothers, and all those ghost riders appear in the sky...

so, yes, your first assumption is correct, the song is "Ghostriders in the Sky" and it is bluegrass!

no, that's rather towards the end of the movie, at the house of that voodoo queen (Erykah Badu (spelling?))

I am talking of when their manager signs them up for a bluegrass festival, referring to them as the "bluegrass brothers". The Blues Brothers ask him to organize some gigs on the way to the band competition (which is where they meet EC, BB King, Bo Didley, etc...), and the bluegrass festival is one of those gigs!
