I'm working on a chord database and was curious of how many chord categories are there?
I'm not meaning just the type of chord,
But where a chord type would be placed if it had to be placed under a category.
Here's my guess..
Major
Minor
Sus
Diminished
Augmented
7th
9th
11th
13th

You could put 7th, 9th, 11th and 13th chords, as well as extended chords under 'dominant'. Major and minor 7/9/11/13ths might go under major or minor. 'Add' chords would probably go in minor or major. Youll porobably need new categories for 5 chords and 6 chords.

and if you get really stuck do what the rest of us do ...make some up. :)) As long as u use some form of logic when explaining it to the rest of us, we will all agree with u, not daring to run the risk of making fools of ourselves by disagreeing.
