Hey guys I was just playing whatever and I got this interesting little riff out of nowhere tell me what you think. I know I suck and it's really sloppy, but I'm bad to begin with plus I made this in 2 mins. It's the one entitled inspiration strikes: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=385634 Any ideas how I can continue it or if it's worth continuing at all? I'm open to all comments.

to me it sounds like a good intro that you can progress into some heavy riffage.

how long have you been playing?

my only suggestion is to keep practicing it, i mean it has a nice ring to it, but playing it "smoother" would make it sound a lot better. what are you using to record? that might also help make it sound a little smoother.

A metronome would work wonders for you. Try going through modes with one, or even chromatic scales. It's important to be able to -hear- what you're playing before your pick ever hits a string. Everything goes back to your aural concept. :p

Ok well bball I'ven been playing for a bit less than 2 months now, as for smoothness yeah my playing was kinda choppy, but I was tired and I record with a 10$ computer chat mic and Audacity so I guess that doesn't help make it any smoother :p . Thanks for the input guys as for metronome yeah, I'm gonna go get one sometime.

Audacity

You can make a click track in Audacity, at any tempo. :D

I think it sounds koo and with some heavy chords in the background with it would be perfect. Like you, I am stuck with crappy recording mic, what do you guys recommend for recording to sound good?
