Hey there,

It's about time I dabbled in some recording. The problem is the main PC is in another room therefore I thought the laptop would be a good choice as it's a Pentium 4. Can someone suggest a half decent firewire interface card that's fairly cheap as I can always upgrade later. I tried once through the mic in port and it was terrible (unless someone has a few tips on making this work). Next, what do people think about using emulated outs rather than micing the quadbox? Hmmm, a few questions I know

I would chime in if I ever had a decent quality recording on my PC. I am thinking about putting on a break out on the serial port on my PC and running the tape recorder into it then use the PC for editing amd mixing. I have had some really nice results on tape (I use the tape for playback) but when I go digital the sound stinks (compressed and lifeless). there are several USB and firewire units out there, but I can't comment on them.
