Okay guys well I spent the whole day at the drummers house we were working on some songs and stuff then we felt like just rocking out. So we had a jam my friend was playing rhythm guitar and I was doing leads. He just hit some chords and it sounded good I slapped in some leads and bam here we have it a very cool metal jam...to my standards anyways :D. What surprised me the most is when he hit those chords I just played by instinct not even thinking about it, just letting it rip and gosh I didn't even know I could play something like this  . We recorded it and here you have it a super duper noobcake productions metal jam: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=385634
Tell me what ya think and it's obviously the one entitled metal jam. Please don't burst my bubble, cause I'm really proud of this and if you burst it just do it gently with a tootpick or something instead of gunning me down like a madman with a fully loaded AK-47 :p .

You sounded good there was just some misques between all you guys at some point were the rythm jumped but like that only is patched up with jamming with a group of guys for a long time.

Listen meathead, i don't see you posting your music so you can shutup. Noob practices alot...He just hasn't been playing for a long time. He has the balls to post his music at least, and asks questions on how to become better at the guitar.
You're a disgrace to music and musicians, bassman.

Don't worry about that dick, noob. Perhaps he's jealous of your progress compared to where he was at after 2 months or perhaps he's bitter. "Bitter," you ask? Yes, bitter. You know what they say about bassists, right? They all are "failed" guitarists. Nah, I'm just kidding, but that's what I've heard... :D
You'll come across many more "critics" on your journey. You know what they say about opinions...and they all stink. Keep at it man, not bad at all for 2 months...most players don't even attempt lead so early in their playing, so you're ahead of the game in that respect.

I can't get to it from work (it's a resticted site). I won't get a chance to listen to it until next week. I'm off to Chicago tonight to sit in with a buddies band and play Chicago blues in a real Chicago blues club.... a long time fantasy of mine. kind of childish I know, but I'm excited...
I will grow old, but I will never grow up

i hate when people have to say stuff like that. theres a difference in between constructive criticism and what he said. constructive criticism is good and helps you progress by knowing what your doing wrong. what he said doesnt help one bit it just makes you uncomfortable about your playing ability. and have fun gibby! :)

Sounded like james bond :p :p .
Thats great for 2 months of playing, i would recommend working on your hammer-ons and pull-offs for now. That will allow you to put together great riiffs within the pentatonic and exotic scales, laying down a foundation for your expansion into the solo world. (My, my i do use big words). :D :D
Bassist,
I hoped (and still hope) that was a joke...
No?
Mods, please at least warn him.

im really tired. i just got back from all day marching band it was a killer. hey that was great! cool rhythms and not bad on the leads, im a noob (been playing for 5 or 6 months i lost count) so i dont have much advice, but i would try to get a bassist and some drums and try your luck on writing a song. and by the way, it doesnt really matter how good u are (although u are off to a great start) as long as ur having fun and doing what u love to do. GREAT WORK.
"bassist" no comment aside from that was uncalled for.

Noob,
I thought it sounded cool. Bassist, you need to check your ego. Okay.......on another topic, I am a bass player (and I do not appreciate comments such as "bass players are failed guitarists, etc."). For the record, playing bass is its own discipline (and requires you to be able to "hear", "feel", and "create" the foundations of songs). Just because the strings are EADG (the first four strings on a guitar) does not mean that a guitar player can play bass proficiently (like a real bass player can). All instruments take different skills to master (even if they appear to be similar). Sorry to get off track, but this really makes me angry. Anyway, back to the original topic, Noob.....you are doing great for only playing for a couple of months. One of the cool things about this site is that you can hear music in the raw from all skill levels! I think that is great because the feelings from each individual artist can come out and be seen. Keep up the good work.....with practice....you will keep getting better and better. Keep soloing on the collaboration jams! :D

...such a loving community  brought a tear to my eye :D . I'll continue rocking for ever no matter how much I suck, I won't hold back. Beginners across the world we gotta stand tall and rock out or die trying ;) .
Coming in a little late on this one but yea... what Marly, 55, and other's said.
You keep at it N00bcake - wish I could do what you do when I was two months into it - hell wish I could do it now.. :D

if the war department wasn't taking 3 hour to pack I'd be gone by now...
but I did listen to you piece
my take:
not bad... I know what you are after (half the battle)
thing I would change (the part you hate by now I guess):
you're after a searing lead, if you do that I would add more strumming like doublets or triplets (something to work on) also work on some stops in the rhythm... it keeps it more interesting
your lead tone was pretty good... close to what you were after. work on some trills and pinch harmonics to add variety
in general (for as long as you played) I would give it a 85..

I was going to add that that B-"ASS" comments seem to be coming from one of those guys I recommended avoiding or at least challenging to see what they have to offer.
Keep up the good work. None of us learned how to play overnight.
I didn't even try learning my first song until I "played" for 6 months. I learned about 80 chords 3 ways before I learned my first song, but that's just the way I do things...a bit backwards.

noob... we were all there, it's rather smart of you to post your stuff for help/comment. if it makes you feel better I can throw a zinger at you. my oldest son could rip you a new one and he's 13. but he started almost 4 years ago, had an in house teacher, great gear at his disposal, dozens of older guitarists around for even more input... in fact it won't be long before I'll be asking him questions on how to play stuff, I figger he'll be ripping me a new one in a year or two (if it takes him that long)... sorry, not much of a zinger, I'm still a bit tired.
played that gig last night... what a rush (pun intended.. it was on rush street... ) I'm gettting a copy of the board mix... not sure how it sounds. the bar had the dimensions of a rifle range (long and skinny). it was big time fun, drummer, bassist, 2 guitars, and a sax/clarinet/key/harmonica player. we stuck to the blues standards, and still had fun. the back stage area (a hall outside the kitchen, next to the employees bathroom) had the big name acts sign the wall. two names you may know who played there were buddy and muddy.... I could feel the ghosts while I was playing

You do realize how lucky you are right? :)
