HI all

I was just wondering dose anyone think that there is a differance between what metals the strings are made of? All of the companies use the same metals on there strings and yet there is a major differance in price. I have still not found my perfect strings yet and I dont think I every will. I just wanted to voice what I felt on this issue. If you agree cool if you dont agree thats cool too.

Cya later all

Generally speaking, there isn't much of a difference between strings and what brand they are. I used sam ash strings for the longest time and they sounded great. But they didn't come in the gauge that I wanted so I went to D'addario. Some companies make lots of dud strings, they break after playing for two days, they don't tune right, etc. I haven't run into many duds with d'addarios... but they are out there. Just get the gauge you want, the type you want (steel, nylon, nickel, etc), for the price you want.

I agree. I find that weight generally is a much more significant factor than brand for tone and sustain. I've played around quite a bit with strings paying up to $20 for them. Now I use Fenders and am quite happy with them at 1/4 of the price.

HI

I am so mad with the D'addario strings. I got a set of them on Saturday and they are starting to wear out already. They are the phos brozen medium gauge. I put them on my guitar and notice today that there is a bend in the B string. This is the last time I will ever buy these strings. I am going to tell this to there customer service people cause this makes me pissed. Grrrrr

Bye Im off to fight big business

Hey, it isn't neccissarily the string company's fault. It could have happened during shipping, in the store, or even incorrect care. That really doesn't seem like a defect in manufactoring. I use d'addarios on my ESP and I can't be happier with them.
