Is it bad for a guitar to hang it from one of those guitar holders that you screw in the wall?

no its not bad for it to hang if the wall hanger is screwed in really tight. ive heard of those things falling down sometimes so make sure its tight and it will be fine.

not really a problem to hang your axe from one of those things... I prefer a regular guitar stand, much more support, and it's portable. I still keep my guitars in thier cases when I'm not playin'.

'55Gibby, i would put "them" up in their cases except except that theres only an "it" and a "case". also i dont do this because i play mine all the time thats there's no use for it and i dont wanna go through the hassle of taking it out and putting it up all the time.
hehe. well - if you put it in the case, there will never be an accident like, it wouldnt fall down because you left a window open, which blew a big cardboard box off a shelf, and it knocked the guitar down, and! also! the guitar will not get dusty :) that would annoy me the most, i hate cleaning the guitar, because of the places dust gets, it annoys me royally.

yes fizz but what if you dont have any cardboard boxes. and if you keep playing it it wont get that dusty. if it does use a can of compressed air that people made for keyboards. its really helpful for places in the bridge and under the strings (it pretty much eliminates the need to take off the strings to clean under them). also i alwayskeep my windows shut. and guitars are pretty tough to knock off a stand when its only a cardboard box.

@ bloodXero: you seem to live in a very dustfree area.....;) I mean, you're not playing 24 hours a day, do you and normally say 8 hours off (for sleep) will cover my guitar in dust.....
.....also putting it back in a case for those rare hours of not playing protects the strings from corroding so you wont have to change them that often......
.....I use my case as a closed stand. It leans on the wall, can be opened easily and even if I just get a cup of tea I place my guitar in it.....not very complicated... ;):p

well eische we got a very good filter thing for our air system and dust isnt that big of a problem. since i alreasy have a stand sitting right by my bed there's no realy reason to have it in the case. but when i do go away for a long period of time like on vacation (i would take it except the condo wont loud noises and even if i played it dry we dont have nearly enough room to fit it in the car [i have 3 women in my family] i do put it away in the bag. also my ernie balls dont seem to corode very much. if i changed them because they had too much corosion i would probably change them every 2 months.

oh ok, no air-system-thingies over here, just a dusty carpet, lots of books and papers and an open window, the steam from the shower and the cooking.....all that

dont' mind the topic :D :D , but is the girl-case for real, why don't you look for smaller guitars, like half-ones, music-schools use them for even younger aspiring guitarists......

Yea i think theres a guitar in a local shop called 'the shredder' its the smallest thing ive ever seen! its really quite sweet lol (womanly words make me look manly, really, they do!)
i think it has around 12 frets in all?! might get my dad to buy her that hehe thatll stop the little one!
on a serious note lol, what i was getting at, is i think that if you keep your guitar in its case, its generally safer, you never know, accidents do happen, when your parents are cleaning your room, they might lift the guitar to clean the stand (dont ask, some people do this) and when they put the guitar back on, they might not put it on right, and it will fall, or maybe youll have a smart arse friend round, who thinks he is a virtuoso on the guitar, and he will hold it, no strap, and make effects with his mouth, you see where im going with this! if your room is safe, and is free of little ones, go ahead and buy one :) Agreeing with gibby here i spose, get a normal stand :) much less to worry about.

hmhm, take her to the shop and make sure she is able to put the four fingers on the four frets of the high e-string first simultaniously - then the size should be ok for her.......

@fizz- i do put it up when my friends come around. but sometimes my sisters friends play on it. i only know about 2 of both of my sisters' friends that actually play. so when im gone and done for the day i plan to put it up. also my dad is the person who got me into guitar. he used to play so he knows how to handle them. my mom knows not to touch it but there is still one problem. my house cleaner that comes every 2 weeks. she always mixes my stuff around. one time i found my BF-2 Flanger up in my closet. i plan to put everything up then.
