I don't know a whole lot about this but isn't the bpm irrelavent unless compared to the length of notes you're playing?
For instance, if you played 8th notes at 100bpm, that would be slower than 16th notes at 51bpm or above. See what I mean?

ok so 16th notes, how fast in bpm?

damage inc. solo is pretty fast, at some bits, I think it's 130 bpm, with some parts in 16th notes

damage inc. is sweet. i just wish i had the tab book for master of puppets...
id rather learn battery, it just sounds a lot harder to play than damage does. dunno why.
BloodXero

hell why not learn both.

16th notes at 160bpm is my current speed. That allows me to pay John petrucci, and yngwie stuff.
16th notes at 350 bpm is insane, that's insanley fast fast fast. insane :)
BloodXero
05-26-2002, 05:10 PM
man no one can play 16th's at 350. you one has ever played that fast. itd be cool though. i still say its impossible

hehe, battery and damage inc.... killer!
I have the MOP tab book, but I cbf spending weeks learning those hard solos =]
I dunno which is harder... but I couldn't really play battery properly coz I don't have a wah pedal. You should hear the Sandman solo without one... its a crack up =]]]

yeah, haha that is insane, but micheal angelo can probably do it. listen...

hey black star -
since that video someone posted up, ive been well intersted in more of his stuff, what should i get?
oh and SMFULLA! where can i hear it from!
i simply refuse to learn to play that solo.
i despise the way they play that song. ugh
BloodXero

hey smfulla can you write out damage inc. correctly for me plz.
Blackstar, thats kick ass ... how does he do it:confused:
the singing is kinda freaky but the guitars awesome.
Black Star

yeah that ddue is insane. Too bad his hair looks like something out of a cher video.
go to www.angelo.com and click on the mp3 section, you can hear his solos, and see what cd's he has out. He's originally from the band Nitro, but i have none of their stuff, and can't find it on kazaa either.
if you wanna get into shredding. just take a look at some dream theater, Jason Becker (he is THE guitar player), extreme, yngwie malmsteen, mr big (paul gilbert is an awesome picker, nad if you wanna hear a killer solo download addicted to that rush), Joe Satriani, Sonata Arctica.
those are a few, but first check out Jason Becker, he's an excellent player, he's THE player IMO.

I'd say that 16th notes at 130-140 bpm is considered fast. My fastest was 16th notes at 180bpm, but now it's about 165bpm.

fizz - well its no where on the net. It's just I don't have a wah pedal, and when I played my metallica medley last year, it sounded really funny when I played the solo to enter sandman with no wah pedal =]
bloodxero - go here http://playmet.adamek.sk/
its scanned metallica and dream theater tabs
its what I used to use before I bought the books

@ smfulla
i checked up those metallica an dream theatre tabs, they were quite hard to read
any other reliable sources? NOT tabcrawler?
smfulla
05-27-2002, 06:33 AM
fizz - sorry mate... those are prolly the most reliable tabs on the net. The next best thing would probably be some guitar pro tabs. www.themetsource.com has very good tabs as far as ASCII goes.
Oh and I just checked... Damage inc is actually 190 at 16th notes =]
ah damn. ah well. :)
ASCII? i get the feeling i should know what this means

For Metalica (I know I've not spelt that right, lol) tab, try www.powertabs.net You will need powertab editor but it only takes 5 mins to download. http://powertab.guitarnetwork.org/downloads.htm (at the top of the page V1.7)
This is a really cool program, you can play the tabs to see if they are correct. They also print just like proper tab books. On that first site I think theres about 50 tabs they'll all be correct as well.

has anyone seen the video of dream theater covering master of puppets? it rocked, they put metallica to shame. well except for the vocals.
smfulla

black star - I haven't got the video, but I do have the mp3's. I wouldn't say metallica got put to shame... but dream theater were right up next to metallica's best performance

well, to each their own. Hetfields vocals were definately better, but just love Petrucci :)
you said you had the mp3's, did they do more than one song off the album? or was that a typo?
cant find it - only found damage inc. I prefer metallica version im afraid:p
SMFULLA - you reckon you could send me that mp3 over yahoo?

Everything from Battery to Damage Inc. I saw a video of it up somewhere... but I cbf d/l it... I have small bandwidth (56k). As for the url for the mp3's... I have no idea. If I find it again... I'll post it on this thread
fizz - umm maybe... I'll have to see... atm I found this really awesome d/l place... it has simpsons episodes, music vids, 24 eps, Family Guy eps, Malcom in the Middle eps, Futurama eps, ******* eps!!!! And yeah I've been downloading heaps, and it takes ages. right now I'm downloading Metallica - So what! & Master of Puppets (Live From Woodstock '99).mpg
79 megs
maaah. the So What - MoP aint too great, they dont do the solo, and it REALLY IRRITATES ME when they dont!!!

www.astalavista.com is a good crack/serials search engine
rofl!
unbelieveably subtle!

nah ... il just have my dad buy it.
hmm, im not sure you need to pay for winzip at all, cuz i downloaded it well over a year ago, and i still dont have to pay for it
WinZIP is free, I think. www.winzip.com
alternatively, there are lots of other free programs that can read zip files, but winzip should be ok! I think you only have to pay for it if you use it commercially, but I'm not sure...
well, btw, does anyone know other sites that have scanned original tabs, other than metallica?
smfulla
06-05-2002, 06:53 PM
