I just bought an epiphone les paul, and I no matter how hard I try I can find almost no strong harmonics. It's been about a month and I've only located one on the G string. I used to own a cheap $100 strat knockoff, and I could squeal easily with it. Is there any way to get more harmonics out of my guitar, e.g. changing string height, etc..?

Did you check out the section on harmonics? http://www.cyberfret.com/techniques/harmonics/natural/index.php
If you did, well theres nothing much I can say, cos it's all in there.

you might also want to try fretted harmonics. In these, you fret the desired string and then lightly put your picking hand index finger either 5, 7, or 12 frets up the neck from it. You hold the pick with your thumb and middle finger.

thanks for the advice, but I know how to do pinch harmonics and could do them easily on my old guitar. The problem is this guitar doesn't seem to have any natural harmonics off of the usual places, like the 5th and 12th frets.

I know on my strat if im using a a certain pickup or combination i cant get harmonics that sound strong (to the point that i cant tune with harmonics if im on those pickups). Try switching the pickup you're using.

Could your intonation be off by so much that the harmonics aren't over the frets but instead slightly to the left or right? Also, make sure you don't pluck the string on the node of the harmonic as this will cause them not to sound.
