hey. while listening to alot of my cd's (especially Joe Satriani) that some of the notes are sustained for a long time. i've tried doing this but the notes fade too soon. i'm playing a fender strat and an epiphone sg through marshall valvestate amps (30 watt and 60 watt). is there an effect or pedal i can use to sustain the notes longer?? thanks for your help.

weeeeelll...

the two things you need for sustain is:

1) natural sustain is a function of mass and constuction... you have to have a heavy (in terms of mass) guitar with heavy (in terms of mass) hardware using heavy strings, and neck thru body guitar doesn't hurt either.

2) artifical sustain is done thru a sustain pedal and/or driving your amp with your pre-amp

simple huh?

no, ask for a sustain pedal at the music shop. The manufacturers always give their pedal fancy names but generally, a sustain pedal is just called a sustain pedal.
