Hey, everyone. I was wondering if anyone here could give me some suggestions on how to better develop the fourth finger. Thanks in advance.
Do youre scales.
Do hammer ons and pull offs using your pinky.
if you play the piano, ...play!
it will come to you, you cant rush it, and dont try to, youll hurt yourself. i know how frustrating it is. sometimes you jus wanna get your finger and shout at it, an scream at it..*shakes fist angrily in the air*
but i kept workin on it, and now, pretty much can use it with ease

if you wanna develop some early strength, just substitute your 3rd finger for your pinky when playing powerchords. Esp. on the lower frets.
It'll get you used to actually putting some pressure on it

hmmm, you may do some doublets or triplets (sorry, if it's the wrong word) with holding one bass-note and playing some regular grip/release thing in the melody-line like:
on b-string: c (index, 1st fret) - b - c (index, now holding on) - d (pinky, 3rd fret) - c - d
on A-string: c (middle, holding on) ----------------------------------------------------------
(third fret)
it will increase the independence of the pinky......

Starting on any fret, any string, play 4 consecutive notes:
---1--2--3--4--
---1--2--3--4--
---1--2--3--4--
---1--2--3--4--
---1--2--3--4--
---1--2--3--4--
Each number represents your 4 fingers, with number 4 being your pinky.
Play each note ascending, keeping each finger in place as you go. So you'll leave fingers 2,3,4 on the sixth string while you move your first finger up to the fifth, and so on. Descending you can't do this exactly, but train your fingers (especially the pinky) from lifting away from the strings.
Your not making music but it works well to train all your fingers. Also try to count as you play and use a metronone if possible.
