Amp Help

I am a new guitarist and i just bought a used Roland
DAC-50XD...I figured out everything except the "gain"
and "presense" nobs...i want to know what they do
and on the back there are outlets labeled "effect"
"hold" and "line out" i would also like to know what
those are for....thanks in advance for your help, and
please don't pitty my lack of knowledge :)

Gain knobs just control how much distortion you have. There should be a channel switch that allows you to be able to turn the distortion on. I am not quite sure what presence is.... none of my amps had it and I haven't played enough with it to really know what it does. Just turn it and see if you can hear any differences. The effect jack must be an effects loop. So you can add effects into your sound. I have never heard of a 'hold' jack, it may just be roland's footswitch jack, but I don't know. Line out is either a low level out for going directly into a mixer/recorder, or it's a powered out to add more speakers to your amp. Do you have the manual? If you do, try lookin in there.
