a couple of questions on scales!

hey guys,
ok, i can play the major, minor, major pentatonic, minor pentatonic, and blues scales. I can improvise on the scales, but how do i know when to use what scale? and at what place on the fretboard?

soz chris, it's just that i wanted a more varied array of answers as i didn't completely understand wot u were saying. Anyway, my guitar lessons start 2morrow, everything will be cleared up. Again, sorry chris, i didn't mean to irritate u
