hey ESP.....basic question.....

alot of guitars have features that are referred to as "jumbo"....
for instance...the guitar im looking at has "jumbo frets" which im not sure what that means...
looking thru the specs, i cant find anything different from the specs on a different guitar i played made by the same company....

this really makes me wonder what this means for me....

i know i would never be able to deal with a guitar that has a jumbo body for instance....because im just not very big....but maybe you can tell us what some of the features are for a person who is smaller in stature to stay away from?

oh and perhaps you can explain to me what fingerboard radius is?

would be helpful :)

thanks!

Jumbo frets are the actual size of the frets. I prefer jumbo or extra jumbo.
Fretboard radius is the curve of the freboard. This isn't anything to really get picky about.

Don't worry about either. I actually don't consider those when I buy a guitar. I just play it and if it feels good, well then it feels good. If the radius is xxx then alright I like xxx fretboard radius.

So don't sweat those things. Just make sure the guitar is good for you and it sounds good.

Hey all

I got a jumbo gibson guitar. I like the fact that the frets are a little bigger because it makes it a little easier to feel your way around on the fretboard. I was a big help for me when I was starting off because I did have to look at the fretboard everytime I had a finger placement problem. I know many people dont like jumbos but for me they were the right choice.
:p

I find jumbo just to be easier to play on, period. Your hand size doesn't really matter. It's nothing to get worried about. The fret size is just another thing they can advertise about, when it really makes very little different. Most guitars have jumbo frets. If you find an ESP: LTD and play it, it will have jumbo frets. Don't get worked up about it! Even if jumbo frets are odd to you... you will get used to how the guitar plays and it will be comfortable to you. My ESP was perfect when I first picked it up... it's the best neck I have ever played!
