A hexatonic scale is a scale that contains 6 different notes. I have never heard of something called a "gospel" scale. A whole tone scale is a common hexatonic scale.

A common way to construct different hexatonic scale is to combine the notes of 2 different triads that do not contain any notes in common. Like a C and Dm chord.

C = C E G
Dm = D F A

The hexatonic scale would be C D E F G A.

There has been an on going series of lesson covering hexatonic scale in Guitar World magazine. The series is called Sixth Sense by Jimmy Brown.

Here is a link to one of the lessons that is on the Guitar World site.

Yes it is. And a blues scale is definitly used in gospel music.

Here is a basic blues scale fingering

|-1-|---|---|-4-| -1st string
|-1-|---|---|-4-|
|-1-|---|-3-|-4-|
|-1-|---|-3-|---|
|-1-|-2-|-3-|---|
|-1-|---|---|-4-| -6th string
