Anybody Help Please!!!

I just bought an acoustic/electric guitar, and I really wanna learn to play it.People tell me that tablature is a good way to progress, but I'm just not getting tablature at all.I don't know how to get my fingers to all the frets so quickly, it's just not clicking. If ANYONE has some advice, please drop a line. Any help is greatly appreciated by this guitar newbie.

Ya know it's funny I posted a similar question about tab....

Anyhoo, I find it easier to follow tab because I just flow with the numbers(I suppose it's a bit like painting by numbers).

Just practice over on a simple piece and once you get the hang of it you'll pick up a lot quicker.

Part of the reason note changing is slower is the placing of your thumb behind the neck. PPL tend to grab the neck with their thumb at the top and try to spread their fingers across the frets. You have to be a lot more pliable and allow freedom of movement. Let your thumb loosen up a little and use it as a guide up and down the neck rather than as the tool by which holds the guitar upwards.
