1) When I play runs if i play them slowly enough I can keep my fingers relaxed and close to the fret board. However when i try and go faster my fingers tense up and once i have finished playing a note, mainly with my third and fourth finger, I pull my fingers off the string and they fly off the string, and stay far away from tthe string until I struggle to put my finger back down tthrough the longer distance in time to play the next note. How can I keep my fingers relaxed and close to the fret board?
(also is it normal to find it hard to reach notes on high frets ie. greater than 12th fret with your little finger on the low E string? I have quite long fingers and can reach these notets with my little finger but only with a stretch and more tension in my finger)
... thats one thing (well two i suppose but they are both finger related).....
2) When holding my pick i know i need to hold it so the face of the pick is parallel to the strings and should attack the strings perpendicular to them. This is quite tricky though, and feels quite unnatural, since i have to curl my first finger round more to get the pick like this. It then becomes hard to move the pick on a perpendicular line to the sttrings because the wrist motion doesnt really allow this because it moves the pick diagonally across the strings, unless i also curl my wrist around so that it is parallel to the strings which im sure isnt a good way to do things
If you can decode my ramblings does anyone have any suggestions??
This is quite a long and probably boring post but basically im justt having a bitch about the bad habits that i can manage with but I wont improve much if I dont change them now....**** it....
Anyway thanks for any help
