Something every musician should over come it'll help you out if you are indeed a serious musician. You're not just a guitarist you are an musician there's a difference. One of the most important skill a musician needs to learn is sight reading it took me not to long to get this technique down all you need is time set aside for practice.

Here are some tips.

1.Feel it-Get a good feel for your instrument-feel the guitar without having to look at it this will help by letting you be able to look forward without having to look at your hands.

To do this try practicing scales in different positions so you won't have to look at your hands to know where you are at.

2.Learn the treble lines and spaces.
Lines-E G B D F
Spaces-FACE

3.It's all about rhythm parts- Practice your rhythm only concentrate on the rhythm don't worry about what you are playing just get your rhythm straight.

You can clap out the rhythm, subdivide or use a metronome or all three. If you have two or even three melodies concentrate on your low melody concentrate on the rhythm of the low melody and than work on your higher melodies the same way.

4.Fingering fingers-Now that you got rhythm out of the way just worry about your fingerings don't worry about playing in time just play the correct pitches and fingering.

After you get those two down after awhile you will be able to play correct rhythms with correct fingerings and pitches without thinking about it.

5.tempo-Always play with a steady pulse as with a metronome or drum machine I prefer the metronome with the drum machine you have to much of other things going on and you don't pay attention to what you are playing.

Now just keep playing with the tempo if you make a mistake ignore it and keep going on do this over and over again this will help with accuracy.

Try playing easy pieces in fast tempos Allegro and so on and when you have an hard piece play it extremely slow Largo and so on

6.Can you find the patterns?-Finding patterns in songs will also help when you recognize that a certain is being over played you can get the feel of what to put in the blanks this will come naturally just keep working on it and it'll come around.

Also for a side note studying music theory will help as well it'll give you a sense of what goes where always use what you have around you as a tool.

And that's it for today I hope I gave you some good tips.
