Is there a sound difference between what wood the guitar is made of??? for example how would a guitar made of maple wood be different from one made of a different kind of wood???

Yes it matters a lot. Each wood resonates differently. Every wood has different sustain. The best sustain is achieved with dense wood, and no joints in the wood (neck through construction). I prefer the sound of mahagony necks and bodies. It's preference in the tone of the wood, but I think everyone wants the longest possible sustain. So sometimes it may be a trade-off between tone and sustain.
