Best Les Paul copy for under $300. Just want to fool around with it. New or used makes no difference. What should I be looking for???? Thanks
The best Les Paul copy is the vintage Ibanez's. They are so close to the real thing that Gibson's sued them for it. But good luck finding one for 300 or less. I have one and they are worth between 500-1000 US.

What about the Washburn copies?
I'm not sure about those but I have tried a few copies and I think the Ibanez is the best copy out there, but hey that's just my opinion.

I never heard about that. Not like a big guitar brand to do that.
Yes Gibson's sued Ibanez. It was back in the late 70's. The US guitars were rising in cost and Ibanez took advantage of it by making copies of the Les Pauls, flying V's and even strats. And selling them for way less money than the real thing. Gibson lost so much money over it and sued Ibanez. I'm not sure if Fender sued as well.
If you want to look up about the vintage Ibanez's go to...................www.comcat.com/~alnico5:cool:

Actually, if I remember correctly the Ibanez Strat copy was called the "Lawsuit" :)

Man the Samick LP is like the sweetest Les Paul copy, great sounds, pick one of these up you can find it. You won't be dissapointed. Oh by the way, all my guitars are Samicks.

Fender probably didn't. The majority of imitation guitars are Strats. Walk in to a music store and look for generic names and it's most like a strat copy. I know the DeArmond makes a rather crappy copy. Epiphone is to Gibson as Squier is to Fender, and you might find something under or around 300 on musiciansfriend.com

In fact, at one of the music stores I go to alot of the Epiphones say "Epiphone" on the headstock but "Gibson" on a truss-rod cover thing... Okay I'm biased because I play one, but I'd have to say Epiphone. a lot of people hate Epiphone for some reason, but I really like their guitars. The only disclaimer I've heard is that they vary in quality from guitar to guitar, so if you're looking at them play a lot of different ones and buy the best one of the bunch.
