Ahoy there. Can anyone tell me what a dead note is, and how to play it? Thanks.

A dead note is a note that makes no sound such as this power chord: ie.
e x
b x
g x
d 5
a x
e 3

The A string as you see must make no sound. Yous accomplish this by lightly placing your middle finger on the A string so there is no sound. Thats basically it! Hope this helps!:D

Thanks man, that sure helps. I should have figured out what it was, like a ghost note. I heard a dead note in a song by AC/DC and wondered what it was, although it didnt sound like a muted/ghost/dead note. Thanks man.

The AC/DC song is a scottish song they play called 'Loch Lomand.' They have two versions of this song, one called 'Bonny', and the other called 'Fling Thing.' You can find the dead note on 'Bonny'. Just go to www.rockmagic.net or wherever to get the tab for it, enjoy. :)
