e|-0-
H|-0-
G|-3-
D|-2-
A|-1-
E|-0-

Play it sweeping the strings, not fast but not too slow either. It sounds very hippie. Very Indian... (especially if you go e,H,G,D,A,E)

And pick it from the end of the strings... Doesn't it sounds hippy?

...ok, no one is interested :o

Yeah, it sounds good, Ive heard the same sound in all kind of films.

Try this: (slowly arpeggiated - 7 7 6)
e--6------
B--7-----
G--7-------
D--------
A--------
E---------

I call it my "whats going on?" chord. It sounds like someone just asked a question.

:D oh, we hadn't this kind of confusion for a long time :D

It's a problem of european-musicians, we have an H, but that's just our name for your B. So don't mind, you already have an H-string - it's your B-string, lol (btw: if we europeans talk about b, it's bb)...

Yeah, sorry about that. I should try to remember not to use it here.

Nice chords guys! Do you got more?

So you could play A H C D E F G A? Doesn't that get just a little confusing? Like, play an H major scale, I mean, yeah, I'm confused now. Like, why stick an H at that spot in the alphabet?

aahhhh, no not again... - there are no explanations, why this is so. It just IS like that, ok...

...oh btw: yeah, you can see the difference between music and literature on first sight, because you don't play the alphabet :D

I mean the musical alphabet. You use that term, I'm sure, right?
Anyway, I was just wondering why an H would come after an A. All well. Some things man is not ment to know I suppose.......
(creepy orchestral theme begins to play)

musical alphabet??? - no, that's not very common over here - at least I never heard it - and, if I think about it a bit more, I would go for the Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, Si - thing, if I heard musical alphabet...

All it means here is A B C D E F G. Letter names of the notes that are used. Do Re Me Fa So La Ti Do is a way to sing the major scale without using the letter names of the notes.

yepp, understood what you meant, but I never heard or used it in that way...
..as for the Do, Re, Mi-thingy, it's not just used for singing, it's just the same as the a, b/h, c-one, just in a »different language« (italian - wait, now do we have someone italian here in the forums to ask, if they use that regularly if they talk about notes/scales and that??? -well, probably not, it's slowly vanishing, at least in germany to even know about it)... - and I would think about it, because it seems more complex, you know, more literate...- aarrgh, whatever...:D

well....my grade school music teacher was way old...but she taught us "do re mi fa so la ti do" every year....no matter what we were doing...we sang it so much...so its engrained in my head! it was a good way for her to relate what our music was supposed to sound like...

i gotta say....i dont think of them as notes...
to me its like...the difference between perfect pitch and relative pitch.....do re mi etc is a better indicator of the measurement between tones....does that make sense?

I think that makes sense. You can sing Do Re mi etc, and hit the intervalic distances correctly, but get a sheet of music that says E F# G# A B C# D# E on it you may not sing it all that great. You know?

yep!
and even if one person could do it...try getting a room full of 30 2nd graders to do it.....your eardrums would be scarred forever! lol

You had a music class in second grade? Cool. My family had to pay for my own guitar lessons then, which I ended up quitting after a few weeks of not practising and wondering why I sucked so much.
