yeah i've never been a fan of paul gilbert either really, although he does have some cool solos.

his instructional video is awesome though, and i learned alot from it.

But hey, i believe that malmsteen had an influence on all the shredders. he certantly influenced me, ALOT!!! he's a firggin machine, man :)

malmsteens instructional videos are hillarious, and there good to. they're so good that you don't even have to play guitar to watch them cause he's so arrogant :) just watch him play and smoke :)

but i learned alot from those vids to :)

yeah, the way Malmsteen gets on in his videos is really hilarious

"Velcum to shred guitar discipline, wiff Yngwie J. Malmsteen " (pauses, flicks back hair) "Me."

"this is it played slowly" (proceeds to play an 18 note sweep arpeggio at 240bpm, causing the fretboard to instantly turn to ashes, the strings melt and the magnetic fields in the guitars pickups are reversed)

"and this is it at full speed" (E, apparently, does not =MC squared, and the laws of physics can indeed be broken with enough power practising)

Obviously so that we can tell him apart from all the other Yngwie Malmsteens out there.
