What is a unison bend, and how can I perform one?

Unison means the same note. You are going to bend one string up until it sounds like the same note on another string. You play both strings at the same time. This is done most often on the 2nd and 3rd string, but can be done on the 1st and 2nd as well.

Put your first finger on the 10th fret 2nd string, and your 3rd finger on the 12th fret, 3rd string. Now play both strings together and bend up the 3rd string until it sound exactly like the 2nd string. In the notation you see that you are going to bend the 12th fret up until it sounds like the 14th fret. The 14th fret on the 3rd string is the same note as the 10th fret on the 2nd string.

Here is a unison bend on the 1st and 2nd strings.

I have just been convinced that unison bends are retarded.
