My local music shop has a couple of New MIM Strats for sale at a very good LOW LOW price so i fancy getting one for my backup guitar had a play on one and it felt great anyway is an American strat far better than the Mexican or is it just that people like to have a stamp that says Made in USA on ther gear is it worth while buying this Mexican Strat

PS ESP Viper if you read this just to let you know I had a play on a Viper in the shop and man I was Blown away fantastic guitar would of got it there and then but i cannot justify the cost for it as a second guitar maybee in a year or so

The Americans aren't some high level quality guitar that is bow down worthy. If the mexican is enough for you then get it. I honestly would not buy an american fender just because I don't feel they are worth the price. They are more affordable and a better value than a gibson, but there are better choices out there in my opinion. But you seem pleased with that mex, so I say what ever makes you happy get.

Do they still make 'em in Japan?

I'm not sure about Japan, but I think Squires are made in Korea. I know ESP standards are made in Japan and are great quality. But, are a bit pricey... I'm no fender expert, so....

The mim strat is a great guitar i bought one about 3 months ago it's in my opinion a great guitar (athough i wish i had bought the fat strat). but i really like its sound its worth what i paid for it.
