I just bought a guitar on Ebay, and it seems quite small. I guess it is 38" - Is this the average size for a guitar?

I think it has 18 frets.

Thanks for your help

looks like you bought a 3/4 guitar, one usually bought for 9-12 year olds.

I guess my question would still be "what is the average size for a guitar". I can easily resell this guitar, but want to be sure to get the right one in it's place.

Thank you

the "typical" size is called dreadnought... usually 22 frets. there are other sizes that are also standard are parlor, jumbo, concert to name a few. you may have a parlor guitar as well... prolly not if you didn't pay a lot for it (they are kinda rare)

i wouldnt run off and sell it just cuz its a smaller body....it definitely has its advantages if it is....
my husband also owns a guitar that is 3/4 and he wouldnt have it any other way....sure it is actually a "ladies guitar" (he inherited it from his grandmother who got it from her brother years ago)...and is so named by gibson...but its very comfortable to play...and has awesome tone....it just sounds beautiful....hed actually rather have his 3/4 than my dreadnought....

my .02....you really might like it alot!
