When I saw the line 6 amps for the first time I thought they were just gonna be another over priced, over hyped amp that sounded like my 10 watt Crate amp. I plugged into one and they were VERY convincing. The tone and modeling are just amazing. I am planning to buy a POD here soon.
Another amp I under-estimated was the Marshall AVT. If you were on the old forum, you know I don't really like the older Valvestate series (valvestate and valvesate 2). I thought they were just going to be like the old ones. But they are actually very nice. The clean channel is VERY clean! Has to be one of the best cleans I have ever heard. The overdrive channels are pure and dynamic. It can do anytone from a classic overdriven amp to the sound of a rectifier amp. I never messed with the digital effects that the more expensive AVTs have, but I'd heard they are great. Marshall really did it with the hybrid amps. For those of you who don't know much about the AVT's, they have a single tube in the preamp, and a solid state power section. So the distortion the amp has is from a tube.

My favorite guitar of all time has to be the Gibson EDS-1275 double neck. I fell in love with the guitar the first time I saw the Led Zeppelin movie. I'm not much of a gibson fan, but this guitar is my dream axe.
My favorite amp for high-gain is a tie with the 5150 original and the Mesa/Boogie Mark IV. Both are very dynamic and have great tone!

Well... What's your favorite stuff?

I guess this would be the opposite of underestimating gear.......What gear have you bought, thinking it would be great, but it did not live up to your expectations.

Mine would have to be my Gibson Les Paul Custom. That was my dream guitar from when I was young. And when I finally got one, that Les Paul never lived up to the dream.

I've heard some really nice guitar's but I never played them:

Fender strat's and tele's
Gibson les paul's

I should go out and try out the guitar's when I have the chance... and the money.
