Probably some kind of harmonic. I'd guess a real high pitched natural harmonic, or some pinches, or artificial harmonics.
I really dont know, so I'd say just experiment.

try doing artificial harmonics on open strings then use your wammy bar. i also beleive he uses a wammy pedal and other effects to get those screams goin.

Sorry to bring this up, but artificial harmonics are not performed on open strings. I know, it sounds like I'm crazy, but your getting them confused with pinch harmonics. Artificial harmonics are totally different.
I dont mean to start a big debate, but that terminology gets mixed up a lot on the net.
pinch harmonic on the open e-string, pull whammy bar up, it'll squeal, lower the bar to release said squeal.

well i saw satch do it in the cool #9 G3 video...he does a pinch harmonic on one of the strings...i don't think it's the high E tho.
another way to produce the similar effect is depress the bar, pull off the third string at the second fret and lightly touch and release the same string just above the third fret to get a harmonic. at the same time release the bar slowly and then depress it again

Do any of you guys no where I can get some G3 videos, like, a store, or some place I can order them? I dont like getting them off the net cause a lot of them are not complete or the quality is bad.
Thanx.
virgin megastores usually stock it, you can normally find the cd of it under "Joe Satriani" in most record shops

Mr B is right. Although I've heard him do the high e string and the b string at times... it's a really cool sound.
And as far as I know, the G3 should be available at most cd shops as a dvd... I don't think they stock vhs's anymore... hehe
But I know where you can get a copy of the G3 concert (whole) in WMV format, and not from Kazaa... but it's not superb quality... it's 183 meg I think.

ok...you guys are kinda confusing...
Natural Harmonic : Lightly touching the string and plucking it! (12
Artificial Harmonic : Making it harmonic...e.g. Fretting note 5 and touching the string lightly at 17
Pinch Harmonic : pick a note with the pick but touch it with the side of the thumb as you sound it !
This is how i've been using these techniques...IF any of this is wrong let me know!

No problems with your terminology I see.
Some people do get those terms confused over the net though, I just find it a bit annoying, so I'm compelled to correct it. Anyway your good to go so its cool.
