also a soundgarden song, My Wave
awsome song, and as i realized, i cant figure out how to play it, i checked out a tab for it, http://web.stargate.net/soundgarden/tabs/super/my_wave.shtml
my problem wasnt with me, it was cuz ive never delt with this type of tuning b4
all the strings r E or B, so its EEBBBB, and i hav no idea where to start with this one, thinking ill break out the electronic tuner
but just wondering if any1 has advice on this one, even advice on using an electric tuner for this, like shuld i tune all strings to B and E using harmonic notes?
anywhoot, thanks for reading

Have you got a chromatic tuner? If not, get one, it will make things much easier. In the meantime, tune the 5th string down to the pitch of the 6th string, the 4th string to 7th fret, 5th string and the 1st and 3rd strings to the pitch of the 2nd string.

chromatic tuner, not sure if the KORG GA-20 wuld account for being a chromatic tuner
and i was wondering if i am going to use the GA-20:
culd i tune the strings from the 12th fret open harmonic, and match that pitch to a B, or E?
usually when im htis unfamiliar with a type of tuning, i try to figure out a way to use the electronic tuner
anywhoot, thanks for the info, i always hav trouble with odd alternate tunings

What does that mean? You dont really need to use harmonics, it is probably easier without. Explain what you mean though, and ill try and help you.

well if i play the string open, my tuner wont read it right, but if i play the harmonic, open, over the twelth fret, it has the pitch and i can use the electric tuner, and i can tune the harmonic
for ex.
i need my 4th string to go from D, to B, i can set the tuner for tuning a B, and i can get the harmonic of the string to that pitch
its the way i start out for all alternate tunings, that way i dont mess up getting into it, i was just wondering, if this wuld work
i think better a simple alternate tuning, my first alternate tuning that i ever did was drop D
which i only changed the 6th string, the first time i did it, i played its harmonic above the twelth fret, and used the electronic tuner, only it was set to tune the 4th string, and from there i got it
this way is more the fool proof way to get into a tuning, until i learn the sounds of the strings in the alternate, then i can just do without the electronic tuner
i only go thru this trouble because, My Wave is a cool song, and i got the tuning off a website, otherwise id never b able to figure it out
appreciate ur effort to help

OK, that should work. If it is easy to use the tuner, this probably would be the easiest method. That is a pretty wierd tuning. As you have probably worked out, if you just play this tuning open, it is an E power chord. That is why most of the song is built on barre chords. Looking at the tab though, I dont see how it is possible to play this chord-
B-----10--------------------------------------
B-----10-------------------------------------
B-----10-------------------------------------
B-----5---------------------------------------
E-----5---------------------------------------
E-----5---------------------------------------
Very difficult, anyway!

it worked out good, and i ran into the same problem
five frets a part is a bit tough to break into, borderline impossible
anywhoot, ty for the help
the song is kickass, only thing left is devising a way to play the regular part, since i dont like the way it sounds from the tab
thinking do a few things differently
the beginning and stuff sounds right tho
