Hey.

Theres increasing amounts of questions in the Gear section, relating to the definition of amps, preamps, technical details on the amp, which can be potentially confusing, so I think a list of definitions on these may be quite helpful. :)

Duh I think I'll get this one- since its first and easy:).

An amp is the electronic unit that takes a signal from your guitar pickups and elctronically amplifies the sound so you can actually hear what you're playing on an electric or crank the volume on an accoustic.

simple definition: its used in order to make sure your neighbor can hear how awesome you play!

I dont think thats what he meant, he wasnt personally asking the question. I think he meant either a sticky thred in the gear forum or another seciton of the site defining the differences between a head/cab and a combo amp etc.
