Help with Metalcore/hardcore

Ive been playin guitar for about a year now, and i usually just play easy punk rock stuff, and im bored with it. I wanna move on to "metalcore" I just dont know what chords are used and stuff. Usually they tune Drop C. Someone told me they use diminished chords to make the "shreeking" noise. Here are some examples of a metalcore song
