How the heck do you get 3 fingers in the 2nd fret to play an A chord?

Well, I always thought that the A-chord was the easiest one. So, you should use your index finger for the d-string, your middle finger for the g -string and your ring finger for the b-string. If you can't get that try lowering your thumb on the back of the guitar. You should get it, but if you don't try playing the chord like this:
--x--
--2--
--2--
--2--
--0--
--x--
only with your index finger, barring it across the d, g and b strings. I mostly play the a chord like this. If this doesn't work, just practice, and you will get it, there is no other possibility. Believe me, the a chord is very easy, and in some weeks (or even days) you'll laugh about this question.
Good luck!

You can barre that chord. I've always found it easier to use the three fingers rather than to barre it though.

A is easy for me! Maybe I just have small fingers, but I put my 1st finger on the D string, my middle finger on the G string, and my ring finger on the B string! I can't fit them all exactly next to each other, so I just put the first finger a lil higher on the fret, my 2nd finger a lil lower than the first one, and my 3rd finger a lil lower than my 2nd one. It's pretty easy!
