What's up fellow bassest. I have a quick question. I just started playing the bass and recently just learned how to read tabs what I dont under stand is the notes hole half or 1/4 no matter what I try to play just doesn't sound wright. Ex.this is the intro for with arms wide open by creed. in dropp D

I tried playing this and listen to the cd and I can't figure out how fast or how slow what I am trying to say is do i Need to strike G 5th fret 11 times as fast as I canor do I strike 5 count 1234 before I strike again? I belive this is in 1/4 notes not sure

ok i understand the question

first of all for now just forget the whole whole note quarter note thing.

with tab (correct tab) depending on how close each not is to each other is how fast they are played. for instance

g-----------------------------------
d-----------------------------------
a----------------0-------9----------
e-7-7-7-7-7-----------------------0-


the 7's on the e string would be played right after each other
the 0 and 9 on the a string and the 0 on the e string there is pause befor each of them.. (for how long specified if not specified you would have to listen to the song for how long ya wait befor you hit the next note)

in WITH ARMS WIDE OPEN you would hit the 5th fret wait a moment then continue hitting the 5th fret for how ever many times it says then a short little pause then onto the 4th fret

tab dose nto always specify the tempo or the speed at wich you are to hit each notes but by listening to the song you can easly make out how it should be played.
