Hi all:

I'm endeavoring to understand the relationship between using the capo and music theory. Imagine the Poco song 'Crazy Love' chorded as C-Fmaj7-G-Fmaj7-C on the first couple of lines in the first verse. I've read tabs recommended to set the capo on the fourth fret. I tried that and I liked it. I do though have a specific question and perhaps someone can answer in general music theory terms.

With the capo at +4, what now is the key of the song?

Thanks all.

With the capo at the 4th fret it is the key of E major.

Here is a lesson on using a capo that you might want to check out. There is a chart to help you transpose.
