Someone told me that I can make my guitar be a bass guitar, just drop it down 1 octave, the question is, how in the world do I do that?

Thanks.

Yes a bass is an octave lower than the 6th 5th 4th and 3rd strings of a guitar. But you can not drop a guitar down that low with any success.....even if you put heavier string on.

Hey, thank you very much, I appreciate it. This place is kind of cool, a nice online community to talk about guitar. You've done a cool job. ;)

I tried to see how low you can tune a guitar before the string tension forbids you to play. I got it tuned all the way to A-D-G-C-E-A before it stopped playing well. It was so low, I couldn't put it through my amp!

But if you are so inclined, you could probably tune a 7-string to be a "bass."
