everytime i play chords on my acoustic and i have to slide to a different fret,i get an irritating squeeky sound...do i have to life my fingers each time or is there some way to get rid of that noise?

I used to have that problem too. Seems to me you'll need to clear a bit more before you get rid of the sound. It will come with practice. This seems to be a problem when using quite heavy strings with round wire wrappings (and heavy strings give excellent tone so persevere). It won't be happening on the single wire strings. The heavy wrappings will make kind of a zipping sound as you slide up the neck (I've never tried doing it on purpose. Hmm!!!). You can get strings that have been wrapped and the wrapped wire has been ground flatter on the outside to reduce this effect. There's a problem with this though, you lose a lot of tone and I've never seen anyone use them on an accoustic. Your more likely to find ground strings on jazz players electrics. Good luck.
