Instead of getting pedals I think I'm gonna get the Line 6 POD. I was thinking about getting it off of E-Bay. Has anyone ever gotten anything off of ebay? I don't want to end of with one that is beat up or has problems or something. Or should i just save up a little longer and get it for $299 at musicansfriend.com? And has anyone tried the Berhinger V-Amp? Is that a better deal than the POD? Sorry for all the questions, I just dont want to get something when i would be happier with the other.

The POD won't let you down, I know that. Cosmetic problems aren't a big deal. My POD has paint chipping off of it. In my opinion the paint is not very good on it, chips off way too easy. But, it still sounds good. Don't buy it unless they have a pic of it. I know people that buy off ebay all the time and have had no problems. Good luck!

What are the major differences between the POD and POS 2.0? Can the original POD be upgraded to 2.0? I'm looking at them on ebay and there are about 30 orginial PODs and 6 2.0s.

Yes there are MAJOR differences. The POD 1 has 16 amp models and no cabinet models. POD 2 has 32 amp models and 16 cabinet models. Yes POD 1's are able to be upgraded to 2.0. It's a chip you buy and have to replace inside. They are like 50 bucks new and can be found on Ebay from time to time.

I heard that the POD 2.2 upgrade is better than the 2.0 upgrade
Also, for Death-Hammett, try using the 'Rectified' amp model with standard metal tone (bass max, treble max, mids cut)

Here's a list of the amp models, and what amp they model

POD Amp Models
POD Clean - The top end of a Roland JC-120 and the bottom end of a Marshall JTM-45 head
POD Crunch - Boutique combo sound
POD Drive - Merges elements of various high-gain amps
POD Layer - Combination POD Crunch and Drive with blending control
Small Tweed - '52 Fender Deluxe
Tweed Blues - '59 Fender Bassman
Black Panel - '65 Fender Deluxe
Modern Class A - '96 Matchless Chieftain
Brit Class A - '63 Vox AC 30 with Top Boost
Brit Blues - '65 Marshall JTM-45
Brit Classic - '68 Marshall Plexi 50 watt
Brit Hi Gain - '90 Marshall JCM-800
Rectified - '94 Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Tremoverb Combo

I use the 4x12s at the delay/swell, delay/flanger 1, and delay/chorus 2 positions. The 4x12 at the delay/flanger 2 is supposed to be the marshall 4x12 from the 70s, but it just sounds like it is in a cardboard box, I haven't found a good use for it at all.

Deathhammett: you may find the 4x12 at the delay/chorus 2 position appealing, it sounds like old skool metallica. That's the cab model I use old metallica tones, for whom the bell tollz right on!

Looooove my POD2! Get it then get the pedalboard. Only problem with the POD is there is not a Phase Shift Effect. IMO

Peace!
