hey, ive noticed that some people use smilies from other forums as avatars here, ginner4 for example, uses one from breakthetrend.com. how would i go about doing something along those lines, selecting a smilie from another site as an avatar here?

mr b, my avatar was a smilie on another site, so when i saw it i right-clicked it and saved it to my computer. then on the options page (i think) where it says use a custom avatar, i browsed my opc until i figured out where i left it.

@mrb....when you find a little picture you like it has to be so small you may have to alter it/shrink it so you can use it here....i used a photoshop program that came with my scanning bed to do that....also i had to save it as a jpeg cuz the original file type wasnt allowed....
there are sites on the internet that you can find little pictures on if you do a websearch for avatars or you can use a program like printmaster or any of those cheesy programs for making banners and such to find little pictures...i found some decent ones that way actually...
when he said he had to search his opc he meant he couldnt remember his file path in order to attach his avatar so he had to look thru his drives till he found where he saved it to....
avatars are set in your "user cp" (upper right corner of this page)....then click edit options i think it is...towards the bottom of that page is a place to chooose a custom avatar or use one of shawns (which he just added a ton of new ones)
hope that helps!

there should be any number of other forums out there, i got mine from www.breakthetrend.com, i right clicked the smilie and saved it to my computer.

there are probably clipart sites out there too, but i didnt really like the stuff there, and i dont remember the address of any offhand... u could probably do a search on yahoo or google or something.

Found this site with loads of avatars on. You may need to change the resolution or clip some of them to make the file small enough to import.

hundreds of avatars (http://komigazin.papatya.com/avatar/PapatyaForumAvatars1.htm)

Just right click on the one(s) you fancy and 'Save picture as...' :D

Check the chimp out! That's how I look in real life :D (Well, not quite as good looking as him, but not far off!! :( )

that's weird, on that avatar site, there's a picture of a girl who's hair looks exactly like mine did when it was hot pink and black. hmmmmm.. that was an awesome website though! :)

way too many pics of dungeons and dragons type fantasy characters that look like some nerd's wet dream, but some cool pics nonetheless.

"Dungeonmaster, having retrieved the Key of Quagnar from the Castle of Vllogg from the evil dragon Zordar and rescued the Princess Xynzania from the dark Lord Looog, what else is there now for me to do but retire to the Citadel of Corynth with my new bride?"

Theodore woke up, drenched in sweat, put on his glasses and reached for the glass of prune juice located on his bedside table. It was one of those nights.

is that what it's like? I guess you learn something new everyday!:)

I'm afraid I have never had such a dream and my experience of Dungeons and Dragons is limited to turning the cartoon off when I was a kid cos it was the worst cartoon on television, even worse than "centurions", "cities of gold" or that one where the it was the bible set in the future, with robots and stuff.
